Hard Starter
« on: June 03, 2010, 04:35:55 PM »
My bike is taking forever to start. It has fresh gas, rebuilt carbs, sea foam, and was ran the day before. Its a cb350f. It take fifteen or so kicks before it starts. Any ideas? Could this be from the wrong jets or fouled spark plugs? ???

Could be a lot of things.  It could also be a starting procedure that isn't in line with the needs of the bike.  What is your method for cold-starting your engine?

My 750 is easy to start when cold, but my 550 takes more finesse.  Try a few kicks with the choke closed and the ignition turned off to prime the cylinders, and then turn it on and kick again.

alright it started today cold on one kick. So maybe it just needs to be run more.

It's a cliche, but it's a cliche for a good reason.  Your bike is like a woman.  You have to learn what she needs to get going, and then you need to provide her those things before she will do what you want.  And riding her on a regular basis is one of those basic needs! ;D
