I don't know whether or not to take that seriously or not. I've seen some colorful humor on this forum, most of it lighthearted. Speaking of which this is my 100th post... I suppose I'm speaking for other new members as well, not trying to upset anyone, in fact its the last thing I want to do.

I realize it's suspicous for a 1 post member's question to be answered immediately by another one post member. However, I don't understand the benefit of doing so. Call me what you will, but can one of you explain the benefits of someone doing this? It seems pretty pointless to me.

It seems as if someone has posed a question with one ID, and then answered their own question, using a different ID, for some sort of perverted self-approval or something. This is what put the burr under spanners saddle, and raised our attention to the thread count issue.
Personally, if I think I can help, I will respond, regardless of thread count.

And, it has been noted, that there have been discrepancies with thread counts, that have compounded the situation. I saw a post today, in the classified section, which is supposed to require 5 previous posts elsewhere, with a post count of 0?

Why are we trying to be some elitist club here, where you're the "new boy" until you've spent at least 20 years buying everyone a drink and sucking up to the committee members?
When I joined 2 years ago I had a question to ask, and the  friendly and helpful way the question was addressed (and my problem solved) I decided to stick around and maybe I can contribute to the ethos of this forum.
There's over 5000 members here?? And we get half a dozen or even a dozen "idiots and trolls"? Pretty good going I reckon.

Fed-up with pranksters and idiot trolls with very low post counts who then 'go away' to annoy other Forums... so new rule for me.. no response....... and I'm so important on this Forum

Unfortunately, longevity and popularity on the web always raises the specter of attracting trolls, shysters and idiots. I think the best recourse is to use the "report to moderator" key on genuinely suspect posts, and avoid posting on threads you don't like. Not ideal, but the best you can do.

If memory serves, poor at best, a couple of my 1st posts were answers to another new member about an item like a oil pump or zerk, or some such mundane or repetitive, to some of the honda gods, topic, and as coincidence would have it, I had just worked on, or taken apart that very item and sat down at my computer for a break, so I felt a post was warranted. I do have questions, do a lot of searches, and generally try to not be a pita. (note how I attempted to inject a bit of sarcastic humor) Ha, I have one more, pretty soon someone will respond to my query on how to get my baffles out and identify the exhaust I posted a photo of last month!

The best answer I know is to always use the search function before asking.  It's not all that often that something comes up that hasn't been at least partially covered.

Always always always use the search function if possible. If you can find your answer in the forums already, it eliminates waiting time  I ask a question if I'm actually stumped and need more input. In which case in my experience, more experienced members help me out.

 I have responded to HUNDREDS of first posters on this Forum... go look it up... first there to help them and welcome them and YOU..?
It pisses me off that some people take advantage of our good nature here... I'm talking about the 'usual suspects' here... the ones that respond everyday like TT, Scottly, Jonnie, Bryan, Mick, Gordan and a few more........ with a solid record of help.....

Dude, how many of us do you think are sitting here with bated breath just waiting for you to chime in on all of the threads?? Uh, zero. When you do speak up, it's usually pretty good or at least entertaining. But really, get over yourself already. Even as I type this I already know that no one cares what I'm saying.
