Excellent.
It's good to see another late model owner loving his bike.
I got a '77 earlier this summer and still haven't manages to get it running.
Strangely this hasn't deterred me from working on it but has instead motivated me to pour every spare dollar I have into giving it an overhaul :D

decided today i will use the stock airbox for the time being until i have the funds to buy a multitude of jets. still going to cut down exhaust, i like the 4-4 pipes but just too quiet. have some interesting ideas for them.

got a lot of work done this weekend bike is in the frame and will hopefully have it running by the end of next weekend. just got to work up the courage to go at the carbs again. nd find my sandpaper so i can clear the tank. im so done with messing with that. crap forgot i need to paint the fuel door. need me 3qt of the finest 10w-30 motorcycle oil an oil filter swtiching to dot5 brake fluid and to weld up my modofied exhaust. and drummroll please here are the pics.

head after i cleaned the gasket, chemdip is the best

head on getting ready to tackle valvetrain

valvetrain assembled and timed with crank

frame ready for motor

tada. only nicked the paint a little by rear mounts and crushed finger between frame and motor

what i have to deal with at some point. and my NOS headlight bucket installed

yep learned that you should install oiltank and lines before you put the footpegs and brake pedal in.

new bars superbike bars. i like em just a few lines are a little bit too long.

ugh

tach is done, just need to finish speedo and il post some pics

where im cutting the exhaust off at.

thats all i have to update right now will be done soon hopefully so i can rinde this year yet. may have to brave the really cold weather.

i am missing the washer that goes in the oil filter housing between the spring and the filter

its number five does anyone know what the measurements are for the washer i want to save money i know its only like 3 bucks for the part but if i can pick it up for a buck at the local hardware store i would prefer to do that.

Take part 4 and part 7 to Home Depot and you will find a washer the will fit perfect.
That's where I found mine.

Okay I seem to be missing one of the headlight nuts. The ones that have the turnsignal ground wire on them. Anyone have one as I found bolts with the correct pitch for them. Otherwise I will resort to making one.

got the washer issue figured out. ended up finding my oem one. couldnt find a washer at the hardware store that would work anyways. wired the bike up and couldnt get any of the lights to work but i think that is because i dont have the coils hooked up or the ground wire that is grounded there. motor turns over but carbs and exhaust are not finished so no start. getting very close. will post some pics later. off to HF to get a angle grinder and a cutoff wheel to work on the exhaust.

went to HF and got a angle grinder and some cutoff wheels. hehe those are fun i wish i had more stuff to chop up. better not go near the frame with that cutting wheel i might get a little carried away. ps dont buy the cheap hf cutoff discs the centers are really crappy and fall apart and throw metal all over the place. heres som pcs of todays progress.

im going to cut the end caps so they are the correct size for the pipes to where i cut them down and weld them back on then cut the centers for a little more free flowing. got to reshape the ends as 2 of the pipes the back sides are indented at the factory and where i cut there is just a smidge of that. i think originally the pipes had 5 chamberes, now they will have 2. cut them in the 3rd chamber and removing the baffle there so there will be two.

Sourced parts for my welder man flux core is expensive if I had money for a bottle and reg I would get that I would like to hear her rumble next weekend so I may be having my future father in law do the welding for me. Gonna paint them black and wrap the headers. Should look neat.

well got some headers off of a buddy to start her up yesterday and shot some either in there nothing. started troubleshooting. have an issue with the choke linkage wont close all the way. and NO SPARK. both coils. must have hooked something up wrong. didnt troubleshoot that i was soo pissed i just packed up and when home. got a random part tat i have no idea what it goes to it holds something in place somewhere. just dont remember. also turn signals are messed up. they dont blink and the relay goes nuts the second you turn the bike on. looks like i need to go through the wiring again. tank and exhaust almost done. paint on the tank is ok. wasnt looking for perfection. need to adjust points i think as well. chain is on. found a master for a non oring 630 and made it work. will convert to a 530 this winter. oh need to get the seat done too. may reshape the foam a little dont know though.

Wiring is the #$%*s... good luck dood! Take your time with a test light and a Volt meter...they're magical for helping you find the devilish issues.

I'm not sure about the relay...but you may have a power and a ground hooked up right thru the relay itself heating it up super fast?

Cheers!

Hooked it up exactly how it was originally. Maybe I have it screwed up in the headlight mess o wiry ball of death and pissoffedness. Will have to go through everything again. Won't hurt. Past couple times I did it I found something wrong. Turns over at least.

well got electrical gremlins galore. still no spark. first i figured it was because the points were not closing. now they are and still no spark. redid all the wiring again still no spark. cant find where its wrong. no the kill switch is not on. weird winker relay issue. the relay starts clicking when the bike is turned on then stops when you turn a signal on. i need some help anyone near want to help a brother out. good with electronics but never been a trouble shooter. just so frustrating. will give beer for help bike is in hudson michigan if that helps any

I wish I was close enough to stop by...sounds like a few beers with the multimeter are needed there to trace draws/grounds etc.... something probably very simple...just to find it!

Hey masterchief, how is the Pamco ignition kit working for you?  Have you had any hiccups?  As far as U understand, there are no adjustments to make, correct?  Just drop and go?  Will pm you just in case.
