Cyclex charging system installed, wiring question
« on: September 18, 2011, 12:43:33 PM »
So I got tired of fighting the stock charging system and invested in the cyvlex charging system. It went together very nice n quickly! I've rewired my whole bike using 16, 14 g wire. I'm also running a small sealed battery. Along with dyna s ignition and 3 ohm coils.

My question is what size fuses should I use inline with the battery, reg/rec+, ignition, headlight and tail light?

You could just check the workshop manual for the stock size of fuses for lights ,horn etc.,.
Another way to do it is to find out the amperage draw for the lights and make sure you do not exceed the amp rating of the wire.

The horn should have a separate fuse. It can draw a lot of current. It needs a relay.

Otherwise just look at proven existing examples.

Sorry, but this is a different charging system than the stock 3 phase. And the electrictronic ignition and lower resistance coils plus better wiring are something different than a stock manual will call out.

Looking for any experienced with any of these parts.

Lucky is on to something there about the wire size. 12ga I wouldnt exceed 25amp, 14ga- 18amp, 16ga- 13amp..
