I live where I am because.....
« on: June 04, 2010, 06:32:24 PM »
Where I live I can go outside anytime of the day/night
summer/winter/fall/spring and pee where I want without
the neighbors complaining.  ;D
besides, I have not much choice financially.
How about you?

I live where I am because one of the three schools in the state that offers my program is here.
I can be myself without having my car keyed and other stuff damaged. Where I live, I have insurance and certain civil rights.  i.e. if I left the state, I wouldn't.
I don't have to shovel rain, but I could still drive a little ways to the mountains for snow, the coast for... well, the coast, and out east for the high desert.
...but when I'm out of school, I'd like to move back to Eugene.
I live in an apartment due to necessity, but someday, I want to live somewhere with trees.  lots and lots of trees.

I work in the city, but my hearts in the country, where I was born and raised. To complicate matters further, I married a city girl who is unlikely to move to the country with me when I retire from the workforce in 15 years time.

Good thing is I work 2 or 3 days a week at an Airforce base in the country, not far from my home town, so at the moment at least, I'm enjoying a good compromise between where I have to be, and where I want to be. Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Same here.  I came to the city for college and my friends were up here and now I'm living with them and miss doing whatever I want like shooting guns and dirt biking without the police coming for me.  I want to go back to the country but to do that and work where I'm at (I get paid more than I think I should for a year out of college as a mechanic[don't tell my boss]) its about an hour drive and I hate commuting.

Plus Minnesota is the best state!  GO GOPHERS!

I'll trade houses with you.  I live in town and I have to use a freaking bathroom all the time.  I can't shoot my guns out my windows and I can see the neighbors.  All bad things in my opinion.

I had an arrangement like that once.  It didn't go well. I hope better for your arrangement.

20 years ago SC was as far as $1500 would get my G/F (Wife Now) and I from The Northeast Kingdom of VT/NH!  ;D I go back to visit in Jan. sometimes. Its easy to remember why we split. Beautiful country but.. Well theres not much there. Dairy farms and Hydro Electric Dams. I could shoot safely in all four directions though! Beats taking a leak Imho!

Guess I'm a desert rat because I'm semi-retired and like the environment and back roads of the Mojave desert: http://www.desertusa.com/du_mojave.html

Yeah, I'm a high-desert rat, too; got hooked after the first few years in the Mojave. Had a cabin near Apple Valley with a view for miles. Miss that place.... :(

I can relate to cabin living.  ;D

I use to have one in the Allegheny mountains of Pennsylvania. Only problem was that the riding season was short and all the critters in the road, especially the deer!

my wife and i bought a "dual occupancy"(two homes on one larger lot) property with my parents ten years ago in the gold coast hinterland, dads getting pretty frail now but mum is still very agile and i have to tell her to stop gardening when its hot,its all acerage blocks here and very quiet,we have great neighbours and have plenty of bird life and wallabies(small kangaroos)goannas(big lizards)spiders etc,we,ll have to sell up eventually and move as my folks get older, were trying to keep dad at home for as long as we can,ill miss this place ,no next door toilets flushing or kids skating on sidewalks,i can piss outdoors and do,if i take a piss,my staffordshire who ghosts me everwhere does aswell, ahh the good life.hes a picture i shot just now from our kitchen window.this is where i ride.

I bought this house becasue it's on a hill.....and the house had to be built on top of its garage so as a result my garage will fit four vans inside or plenty of bikes. I know that's probably not a big deal for you guys on the other side of the pond but a "four car garage" in the UK is pretty uncommon.

Sadly, old neighbours died a few years back and we all got new POS neighbours so I'm looking for a place more like 74cb750's now... ???

Darwin has a lot going for it.
Plenty of work, a multicultural society, very laid back life style, great fishing and camping, no polluting industries, a great place to raise kids and isolated from the humbug rat race of the big capital cities.
The humid build up going into the tropical Wet Season can be harsh and demanding but all in all it is a great place to live.
And the Darwin sunset is just the best.

If I was you
I'd be worried about me.

I lived in Melbourne, Florida for a while, working from Orlando.
Quite a commute, but only did it every 2-4 weeks as I would
pick up my equipment in Orlando and travel around from North
Carolina to Texas fixing/inspecting sewer lines for weeks at a time.
 I loved the heat
of the south and southern people are the friendliest in the country.

Moved back to Vermont to attend college and have not left.

One day I hope to move back south to South Carolina area.

Peace,
michel
