cb750 fouling 1 cylinder help!
« on: June 08, 2010, 02:05:29 PM »
on a trip from indiana to California and i started fouling just one cylinder, its the number one on the left side. plug is not wet, but carbon fouled. i have tried everything i can think of. Cleaned carb, set valves timing points and plug gap, tried a hotter plug, charged battery, switched coil wires, cut off end of wire to make sure im getting good contact, cleaned air filter, ran seafoam, switched condensers. i just dont know what else to do, its just that one cylinder. any tips? were leaving again early tomorrow so i need to line it out tonight or im going to be running the rest of the trip (about 1200 miles) one 3 cylinders.

  thanks,
       Nick

What model and year bike? Carbon fouling means too much gas or not enough air. It sounds like you're using a stock airbox from your post so that'd sway me more towards too much gas.

Does the problem move with your pod? It would be odd but maybe that pod is more restrictive than the others? Short of that it's getting too much gas so the needle jet or main jet might need adjusting or changing.

Thinking out of the box... is your choke stuck on that carb? Maybe a leak in the boots causing a choke affect? Something is happening to create a rich running condition. Anyone else have ideas?
