What bike. On a 750:

Green = Ground
Green/Yellow = Stop Switch
Brown = Power/Running Light

I would try the following:

Black -> Green
Red -> Brown
Yellow -> Green/Yellow

Or try swapping the brown and Green/Yellow around. That's assuming Black is supposed to be the ground on your new tail light.

Is this the light?

If so, there are installation instructions on that page.

Will you show me all of them?
Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.

+1 with zen... British stuff ( Lucas) use Black as ground ( the opposite of our bikes where Black is always +12v , or whatever your battery is reading )..... another Brit 'opposite' example..... in merry 'ol England a Mars bar = a Milky Way, shock horror!!!
If your sure it's a carb problem; it's ignition,

Ok its a wiring problem up in the headlight bucket. i have a left over wire ( i know im a noob) its a short 3in brown/blue wire with a little yellow tag and black tag on the ends. I tryed connecting it from black to brown or black to brown/white and i got power to my running light and the gauge lights started working but then the turn signals stopped flashing. Im a little lost here some sohc guru save me.

From the "Download Motorcycle Manuals" section:

http://www.mediafire.com/?wqzmehqvkzl

Check out page 272 of the PDF (279 is printed page number) It's a wiring diagram for the 78 CB750. It should help you track down your issue.
