I noticed I leaked some gas through the airbox vent overnight but I left the petcock in the on position. Is this normal or is there something wrong?

Whether the bike is running or not, with the petcock on, the flow of fuel should be stopped by the floats rising and contacting the float valve.   If fuel is coming out the carbs, then fuel is filling one or more of the carbs and running into the airbox, this is most likely the problem I believe.
