Yoshi exhaust or not? with pics
« on: June 22, 2010, 05:28:48 PM »
New to the forum and couldnt find the info from the search bar. The guy I bought my 550F from  said that this was a real yoshi exhaust. Now I couldnt tell you if it's real or a cheap knock off I tend to take people word for the truth. When I got it home and took it off I found out that it wasnt even welded in the middle and no baffle. I plan on keeping it I like the look.  Can anyone tell me if its real and where to get new baffle's on the cheap.    ???

the shape of the tailpipe is consistent with the yoshi pipes and the header pipes are the later design type.
I don't see anyone making that steel plate with Yoshimura on it so i suspect that they are the real thing.
Edit .....after having a second look it looks like the tail piece may be the only bit thats authentic, where the pipe joins the header looks different to the yoshi pipes that i have seen..

Yeah, that name plate looks more like the one on my VFR pipes.

I have a few of the yosh systems around for the 2 valve GS,s and that looks to be one
I will have to get some pictures for you but My system on my GS750 is not welded in the center
on the GS you have to remove the pipe to change the oil so its nice not to have to
deal with the weight of the whole pipe when it all has to come off.
I do have one that is welded but its for a KZ1000

You may want to think twice about welding it together  [550F stock pipe came in two parts].

Maybe you could fab a baffle, check this:

If that Yoshi really is a yoshi then Carpy will have baffles for it...

Here's a real one for comparison

Notice how mine has the pipes spread apart for oil filter access, a straighter tail pipe and no emblem. Yours could be just earlier or later than mine??

The "curved' header pipes are the hand bent originals, yours is a later pipe. They  come in 1 piece and 2 piece apparently, i have mainly seen 1 piece Yoshi pipes, my old Yoshi had the curved header pipes and was 1 piece, i also had a 900 Boldor with a 1 piece Yoshi pipe...

It looks the same as my yoshimura did when I got the bike.
but your header collector looks odd.
maybr cause its black and the pics are small

I've since chopped it off a bit.
Never happy with anything, there's plans in the works for a new tailpipe section.
