Hello everyone, I'm Merlin and 58 years old. This past weekend I rode home a 72 750 in the pouring down rain. This bike has 40K on it and I know the person that put on every one of those ... my father-in-law bought the bike new in 75, had been sitting in the dealer showroom since being un-crated in 73. Not may people were buying these bigger bikes at that time especially in a remote area of the country. He is now 86 years young and has problems with his hips so can't ride anymore. The deal had always been that when he was ready to give up the bike it was coming to me and this past weekend my wife and I went the 400 miles to get it and of course it had to rain all the way home. The bike however ran smooth the entire trip.
I've already removed the Vetter fairing and the extra chrome added on the back, rack, back bar, and the extra lights. Have been repairing wiring, doing some dis-assembly and a lot of cleaning.
This is not my first 750 but the first to get torn down ... I'm more of a GoldWing guy, have an 82 that I tore down made naked, covered in leather like marine vinyl ... have been riding that bike since 95
Well, that's enough of that ... see you around the forums.
