Hi all.

I'm new to carbureted systems so bare with me...

I filled my bike up with gas, and like an idiot, I forgot to turn the fuel valve back on.  I got about 2 miles down the road and it died.  Turned the valve on and she fired right up.  Now the problem is carb #3 is spitting gas, which I can only guess is from a stuck float.  Do floats tend to stick after running the bowls dry?  I tried tapping it with a screwdriver with no luck.

(I also cleaned out the carb bowls on Tuesday and they were filthy).

Thanks!

Who knows about tendencies.. but certainly if it has a problem that can only be reached by the float dropping all the way south.. it could happen.

But it is easy to know for sure. You should be able to pull the Bowls off with the carbs in place.
Just be ready to struggle getting the O-Ring back in place.

A spare would be nice.. or you might need to dry it out for a couple days...they tend to swell with gas.

Forgive my ignorance, but what O ring are you talking about?  I pulled the bowls off on Tuesday to clean them and didn't have to mess with any O rings other than the bowl gaskets.  Thanks :)

The bowl gaskets are the ones I mean!

If they stayed in, you are stoked.
Mine always pop out and are a real PITA to get back in.

So.. pop off the bowl again, you should have access to the floats!

You could try tapping on the bowl to dislodge the float.

These have a "down stop" travel limiter tab that many people ignore.  It helps to keep the float from rubbing/sticking on the bowl base.

happens to me every time they fill up when they've been dry.  Give em the tap-tap-tapparoo.

Been trying but this one won't get unstuck.  Usually if I let the bowls fill and let it sit for an hour or two I've found they'll unstick themselves.  Thanks guys.
