rides better 2-up... hmm. suspension gurus?
« on: June 10, 2010, 11:08:46 AM »
i have a 75 750 with progressive suspension shocks in the rear installed 2 years ago and stock front  springs with cartridge emulators.  i don't love how she rides and never have.  wheels are straight and balanced (i believe) but there is def some rebound thin the head that makes wrists and hands tired.  however, with my girl on the back its smooth sailing.

so, how do i achieve this with my 150lb self on board.

My first reaction is to say you need to upgrade the front suspension to match the new rear suspension you have.  Progressive fork springs are available for the sohc4's.

Do you adjust the pre-load on the shocks for two-up riding, or do you just leave it as is?  If you don't change it, then you probably have too much pre-load dialed in for everyday, solo riding.

those would be my thoughts too except...

the rear shocks feel good, but yes i have them set a minimun preload, i do bump them up for 2 up hauls.

i have the progressive springs for the fron, but i went back to straight wound as that is what racetech recomnds after installing the cartridge emulators.

anyone have experience setting up the emulators?

So since you already have the progressive fork springs, have you tried them without the cartridge emulators?  Or even with them?  At least try all of your currently available options/combinations since it doesn't cost you anything extra.

yeah, i had them in both ways.  and it's about the same, best now i would ssay of the current configurations.

maybe i just need to gain 30 pounds.

i wish that racetech or someone would post specific setup info for each model with regard to road vs race and weight etc.

Have you tried contacting Racetech?

I met one of their tech guys at a show and they were very helpful and I didn't even buy anything. I'm sure they'd be willing to help you, an actual customer, with setting up their products correctly.
