NOS Dellorto carbs on ebay
« on: June 12, 2010, 03:53:15 AM »
Can anyone give me any idea what these might be like for parts, tuning, and performance?

Is the spacing really right for a CB750, or would I need custom carb rubbers?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=350362742358

Thanks for your help.

The seller has added

"{CB750 Honda CB 750 900 1000 Race Performance Carburetors Carbs KZ 100 KZ900 Z1 Vintage Antique Classic"

 to the auction.

According to the rough measurements in the auction pictures, they are probably for the KZ 900/1000 and Suz GS.

Heres a PDF that shows the typical carb spacing

http://www.sudco.com/Carburetor/SudcoMikuniCatalog.pdf

You would/may need the smoothbore adapters (IF(big IF) the carb mounting flanges are the same size as the VM 29's) to mount these on the SOHC.

The Del's are nice carbs, but the parts aren't as easy to find as the Mikunis. I usually have to get parts for the Del's from Italy.

The auction leaves out alot of important information, like throat size, jetting and that you will probably need to get adapters to get any kind of air filter on these carbs. The air filter sides of the carbs have very little room to mount any type of air filter with out an adapter.

Personally, I'd pass on these carbs.

I saw those a few weeks ago and messaged the seller to find model and size.  They are Model# PHBE 36 which is a 36mm throat.  That seems pretty big for our SOHC4s, unless you have a big, big bore kit.  I don't know that much about carburetors, but I have a feeling that it would be overkill for my 836.

Thanks Fishead and Doobiebro, that information sorted it for me, these would be more trouble than they're worth.

Part's aint cheap either http://www.dellorto.co.uk/, even if those carbs are roughly half the UK price (600 UK pounds).
