My wiring is a complete fuking mess, I can't deal with it. How much do you guys think it would cost me to get it done by someone?

The wiring on these bikes ain't rocket science, all you really need to diagnose shorts and other problems is a schematic diagram, a decent voltmeter and a circuit/continuity tester and some patience.

Just break down your problems into smaller and smaller sections to get an idea where the problem lies.

Start with a visual inspection following every wire from the battery to where they terminate.

Any frayed, exposed wires? Loose or corroded connections? Reattach and clean up those connections and swab with dielectric grease. Check to make sure your ground connections are grounded to clean, bare metal (hint: look for the green wires).

You can do this, it is not that hard, it can be frustrating though to root out electrical gremlins.

We'll help talk you through it. You can do this.

Depending on what all needs to be done, more than you want to spend.

That's when DIY kicks in, I had to learn sometime myself when I found out only a handful of people in my fair city would care to work on my bike.

Thanks guys. I am a traffic systems technician and work with very complicated electronic systems everyday, but I start sweating just looking this wiring. I'm sure I will hit up the board if I need help.

When you do dig into it, grab a notebook and a pencil and take lots of notes. When I did my KZ wiring I made several pages of notes, drew the connectors and where the wires went ion the connectors, what color they are, etc and drew it up again in Autocad. If I ever need to dig into that bike's wiring BAM, it's right in my computer.
No matter how fast or how far I rode, I couldn't leave her memory behind.

It ain't too bad to do.  Just dive in there and you'll see it isn't as daunting as it appears.  I recommend have a set of hemostats available for the hard to reach areas, and to help "click" the connections back together.
