Most of what I have been into as of late are riddled with family history, this one belonged to his deceased father, the 68 firebird convertible was his wifes in collage, the 58 Chevy truck belonged a 70 year old man who bought it new with his father in-law.

it's not always practical... but you can't buy it in Arizona

Not sure who voted replica, this is a restoration and if not for the sentimental value i would have bought a whole new body..

dynacorn is limited in what they make and what is available in this case, they do not make the 1967 coupe only a1967, 68, 69 fast back. they also make a full line of convertible parts but not bodys.

nearly all the parts are dynacorn in this one. the body is mostly under primer as of today and the price tag to this point is under 15,000. that includes disassembly, parts, assembly, sandblasting, primer and some body work, we are getting ready to start on the suspension and pant

Since there's more material replaced than original - I'd say replica also. Restoration is to bring back to new condition from the condition it currently exists in. Since most of this particular shell is new metal, that's not restored - its new. This same issue has circled the car groups for years and as usual the camps are divided - usually by those who have vested interests in the results.
A roof isn't really a car - just an old part put on much more new metal.

Clone is to take an existing item and to redress it as something more desirable (usually). A low line six cylinder reappears as an R/T, SS, Mach 1 - whatever your brand loyalty is. Sometimes even the VINs get restored to better reflect the new lease on life. ;D

My dad had an ax that belonged to his grandfather. Best ax he ever owned. The head has been only been replaced once and the handle twice.  ;D

now that #$%*s funny, I guess this car will be the same, I think it will go to the grandson...

By 6pkrunner's definition it differently won't be a clone, it started life as 6 cyl 3 speed and that's the way it will be leaving the shop.

I vote Clone, it uses the DNA from the original but a new body. But in the long run who cares? It's a nice car and if it makes the owner and the builder proud that's what counts. I have a 69 firebird that I intend to do the same thing with. I have the floor pans now but need more metal before I start.

If there is still a portion of the original fabric I would call it a restoration.  In the boating world if you have a 100 year old wooden boat and you replace 90% of the structure but still have the original keel or say a portion of the framing or planking it is still a 100 year old boat. :D

it will have the original drive train and other bits and pieces the original will be used as a donor car, how much of the glass, trim nob's and such will depend on how the owners budget holds up

Its not a completely new car so I wouldnt say replica. Unless you badge it as something it isnt or make it a copy of a race car. But, that could be a clone too.?  It still has a lot of original metal so I would call it a restoration. When you restore something you can use new parts to make it look like it did when new. So thats my vote!

I voted resto. It's using the entire power train and (presumably) all of the salvageable structure. Although I will admit to it being on the outer extreme.
