Tonya and I spend a few days with Cam Donald when we were down in Australia a few years ago...    He came over with his Tapes of the IOMTT, they include several laps around the Island....

He was on a private sort of team in 07... and broke his collar bone in 08.... But Last Year....Cam Owned the place....

Be fun to watch this year....

Keith

Hey Keith, Cam did well for you, he finished 3rd in the Super bike race on Saturday. 8) 8) 8) 8)

I hate the fact that I won't be able to watch any of this. Just the live timing thing.

I just realized that what these guys do in 17 minutes, would probably take me 40 minutes at least. The whole track takes an hour and 5 minutes according to google maps. So if you leave trafficlights and speedlimits out of this, how fast do you think you could be round the track?

http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=d&saddr=A2%2FGlencrutchery+Rd&daddr=A3+to:Ramsey,+Isle+of+Man+to:A2%2FGlencrutchery+Rd&hl=en&geocode=FcKJOgMduqu7_w%3BFWBDOwMdnk65_w%3B%3BFeCJOgMd-qu7_w&mra=ls&sll=54.302941,-4.394403&sspn=0.007412,0.016565&ie=UTF8&ll=54.239149,-4.504395&spn=0.231536,0.727158&t=h&z=11

Go out to the start line for 7am when the police change shift and you can have a bit of a better go. My mate Dean reckoned a 7am lap could be done in 25 minutes. I filmed a mid-morning busy lap on my Duc about 10 years back and it came in at 42 minutes but that was with speed limits being kept to. Best roads open lap was an early morning one at 29 minutes. Too risky to try and go faster because of the oncoming traffic and the Germans who lose their way. In the good old days if you drove anticlockwise around the track you used to keep in tight left on the road, nowadays they go all out both ways which makes it more dangerous. If you want a good hoon around the track best to go for Manx week or even better, Southern 100 week as TT is just too packed to have fun on a whole lap...

Oh you could argue that no-one does a full lap anymore at the TT outside of a race becasue they have cordened off the governer's dip section - another good reason to go out of season ;-)
