custom top crown/triple tree for a 76 cb750f?
« on: June 11, 2010, 10:21:27 PM »
Anyone know of an aftermarket top crown for my bike? Looking for something that mounts the pinch bolts inboard instead of how the stock ones have them on the outside.

Looking to remove the interference between the crown and my clip-ons to gain more adjustability.
So much to do, so little time.

Ceriani Roadrace or GP crowns/ trees have inboard clamping.. probably not cheap, but sure look nice.

If you cant find anything, I may be able to make one , but it wont be real low-priced..

Not sure if these will work but Tommy has some on his site:

The "replacement top triple tree" from Summers looks perfect. It claims to be for the K model through 1976. Any idea if this will also work on my 76 F?

Not sure on that- you can always email him thru the website- very cool guy- got to visit his shop back in the early '70's with my dad when I was a kid- asked him a few generic cb750 questions in the past & he was quick to respond & even remembered me!

 Wont work.. diferent offset .
If you are thinking of lowering your bike, you could make it a bit cheaper.. less machining, if you dont go down to the forks like the stock ones..

Cycle-X also have a range, but once again I think the F's offset is going to be an issue, though it may be as simple as plugging the right numbers into a CNC pattern to change them.

http://www.cyclexchange.net/Honda%20Cafe%20Page.htm

I don't know the F dimensions but according to TTR400 http://www.ttr400.com/photo4.html the stock K triple trees have a fork spacing of 182mm and an offset of 60mm.

If you find someone to make one for you, or find one somewhere, could you please let me know.

I'd be happy to split the setup costs if you decide to have someone make one, I also have an F1 and those Tarozzi clip-ons are on my shopping list.

Just spoke w/ a buddy who's a machinist. He's gonna come look at it tomorrow. He's guesstimating we could probably make a few and sell them for a reasonable price. Who else might want one?

Not sure but I am looking for a triple tree top just as you are. I have a 550F model. Not too sure if they have the same dimensions but if they do(which I will find out somehow in the near future) I would totally be down with getting one.
