I read somewhere here that they are similar in thickness to the washers that go under the nuts that go onto the studs to connect the head to the cylinders. I have some to measure but they are buried under my workbench in storage. If I can get to them I'll do that later today.
Cliff.
To the best of my tired eyes, they appear to be the same. I have both and have just now compared. Some fine measuring instrument may find a few thousandths difference. They are definitely thicker than standard hardware which if used I'm pretty sure will still result in a broken top tree.

I have plenty of the head nut washers if anyone cares.

yes, using the thinner ones WILL result in a broken top triple tree! Don't ask please. :-[ >:(

Oops. that hurts.

If anything, the cyl head nut washers are a skosh thicker and may stand some thinning by rubbing on emory paper.

I don't know if the stockers are still available, haven't checked, but they'd be the best thing to use.

Here are some pics of the bike before and some during the strip down. I never took a full view picture of the bike before I started work so sorry about that.

I am having some issues uploading multiple pictures so I will try to get it worked out.

Anyone know where I can find the items listed below? I have looked around but I figured I would ask here. I would rather help out a fellow member of the forum before going to an online store for these items.

1. Washers for the top tree.
2. Nut that secures the top tree to the neck. Not sure what its called.
3. Brackets for securing the bars to the top tree with bolts.
4. Bar grips.
5. Throttle
6. Master cylinder

I may not be able to purchase all of these items at the same time. This is just a starting list of course. I dont think I need any items right now for the rest of the bike but we will see when I get further into the rebuild.

More pics.

You will be able to tell that the parts I am working with on this thing are worn. The gauges are fair at best, the wiring harness is crap and the steering assembly has so many parts missing I may be better off just buying everything instead of trying to find out what I have and don't have. It is a labor of love. It is all pretty straight forward as someone mentioned before but my lack of experience is beginning to show.

Enjoy the pictures!

More.

Anyone know where I can find a battery for this thing? Everyone wants $90 for them. The battery for my CBR600F4i  was that much but I expected that from a newer bike.

Thanks.

Yikes...after seeing the harness I see your concern. I would not worry about a battery for a while. That harness appears to not be able to handle a battery. But you can get them at Batteries Plus, but I would hold off until you are ready to start it up as the warranty may run off by then. This appears to be a labor of love here. Did you check to be sure the motor is not froze up?

I know it looks bad but the rest of the harness seems to be alright. We won't really know until everything is back together and I have the battery hooked up.

This guy has batteries on E-bay very inexpensive, I just bought this one for a CB 550 restoration I'm doing for an older gentleman.

Sometimes a good idea to check the serial numbers on the engines etc. just to verify what year they are for sure. There has been a lot of swapping going on over the years with these old puppies.

And what is the build month and year on the steering stem neck there? Sounds like an early K1 like my goldie. My K1 was built in 9/70 and titled as a 70, but is the K1 model. Sounds like the same situation you have there.

Can someone tell me where I can get the washers for the top tree so I dont break it and the nut that secures the tree to the neck of the bike. I have been looking around but these items I don't find anywhere. Maybe I just don't know what they are called?

Anyone here in the Dallas (Garland) area that might come by and drink a few cold ones and help me figure out the wiring?

They are available new. Are you looking for used cheap?

Either new or used. I guess it doesn't really matter unless new is waaaayyyy more expensive.

I was wrong evidently. I can't find a source of new top bridge spacers anywhere. Stem nuts are available however.

Are these spacers rubber or metal of some type? If metal I am sure I could fabricate some with some stuff I have around here but if rubber then I will have to dig for something that might work.

The top tree spacers for the forks are metal washers with one edge flat so it will clear the fork tube on top.
