Just got the bike running...sounds like a valve tap?
« on: June 12, 2010, 05:38:43 PM »
I finally got my cb500 running and it sounds like it might have a valve tap. It sounds like I cant hear the valves ticking. Is this a valve tap? Or Is there some kind of adjustment or tuning I need to do?

Did you do a valve and chain tensioner adjustment before you got it running?  Even so, these bikes make more peripheral noise than a Honda Accord.  It may be fine.

My man, you need to download a manual from the FAQ section and perform a full tune up.
The manual will tell you all that entails and how to do it.

If you have any problems from there then ask away here.

But please read the manual about it first.  :)

Be careful with the tensioner stud/nut, sometimes they get seized up and it's easy to damage them.
