I'm hooked!
« on: June 12, 2010, 01:27:52 PM »
Howdy all!  I've been lurking on the forum for about a month awaiting the day I got to pick up my new toy.  TODAY way the day!  I'm the proud new owner of a '77 CB550K Four.  She's got an immaculate Corbin King/Queen, a slightly damaged Windjammer, and some bent items and scuffs on the throttle side but she's all there and has been stored inside under a couple blankets for the last 10+yrs.  And the price was right!  Stumbled onto one of those needle in a haystack deals where the PO just wants it out of his shed cause it's in the way!

Now comes the hard part.  As you can see from my profile pic, I love bobbers/choppers and had fully intended on turning this into my next chop, but after getting her home and looking her over, I just don't think I can bring myself to cut her up.  Maybe a mild resto and sale to find better specimen for the knife...er...sawzall....

I uploaded a few pics to the gallery under the album name Sody54.

This seems like the perfect place to get the help I'm sure I'll need to bring this machine back to life!

Welcome to the group. There's a thread on here someplace about whether or not to cut-up a classic, but hey, it's your bike. Best of luck with it no matter what you decide.
We'll all be someone else's PO some day.

Welcome!  You need to keep that seat- it needs to go into the '70's Hall of Fame!!
What was the treat under the seat, his underwear?

Nice find.

PS. Your bobber is sweet lookin'

Bob, I've read about half of that thread...  I think it's safe to say that in the condition this bike is in she'll be safe.  That is unless I run into some unforseen issue once I get it disassembled.

Meriggi, That seat is DEFINITELY going to be used on a build!  Whether it be this one or the next...
Thanks for the compliment on my VLX, had a blast with it and learned a lot in the process.  I just did that this spring.  Took about 3 months.  Best part is, there's less than $6K sitting there including the price of the bike brand new.  Did it all myself except for the pinstriping.  (That cost me a case of PBR! lol )  Oh, and yes....the treat under the seat was a pair of drawers...lol

Doesn't everyone keep an extra pair of drawers under the seat? When I was 17 and riding a '86 VFR they came in handy several times.

All kidding aside. Nice find on the bike.
