Japan retro model
« on: June 12, 2010, 11:57:25 AM »
My friend just came back from Japan.  He took a picture of this bike.  I am not sure of the displacement.  When I zoomed in it looked like the sidecover said "400".  I will check with my friend and report back.

Here goes the question again: Why don't they bring these to the U.S.?

There's no market for small displacement naked streetbikes in the US? Why don't we get the CB1300? Now that's a bike I'd like to see here.

DOHC so the thread got moved. That big clutch cover looks like it's an automatic.

What I hate is that we got the Honda 599 (Hornet), and it was Disco'd right when Naked/Streetfighter bikes were becoming popular over here.  Took a long time for the majority of motorcyclist to get over the "if it doesn't have full fairings it's not a real bike" mentality.  This mentality is why we don't get a lot of models over here.  The manufacturers just don't see a market for them, so they end up bringing the bike in before or after the curve.

My friend e-mailed me back, said it's a 400.  Pretty cool looking huh?

Yeah we like our retros, I guess the other main consideration is pricing.  If Honda sold these for $5k here we'd probably buy them.  If they sold for $7k probably not.

I used to love my ZRX, it was just a little too big and heavy for me.  If it were in a 750 size and weight it might have been the perfect bike.

Really liked my Speed Triple too.  It was a 2001 model, had a little hiccup in the fuel injection at driving-around-town speeds, other wise great.  At that time I didn't have a great place to park it so I sold it.  Now I have a house and a CB550, GS550 and ZR550.

Trying to get the CB550 put back together so I can ride it!
