rear hubs
« on: May 25, 2010, 09:10:24 AM »
I have a couple different rear hubs and brake assembly and I am wondering if the 78k rear hub is the same as 73-76k hub ?

It should be the same.. the sprocket carrier is different.

77/78 K should have 17 inch rim if it is stock.

+1 with 754...........the sprocket carrier is wider but the earlier carrier will fit.

Well I figured since I got off work a lil early friday I would attempt to lace the hub to my 16" wheel. I had everthing all laid out. Got me a couple beers and all the articles and how-to I could find for reference. Well it didn't go well. All the articles I had showed 2 spokes that looked the same but had a slightly different curve at the end my spokes have the same curve but 20 of them have a slight bend to them. I checked out tasclassic motorsports and they have the same spokes as me but their part description states they are all inside spokes no wrap arounds. So now I am back to the drawing board! ???

Every 16 I've ever seen were all laced with 40 inside spokes with a cross one pattern. So 20 spokes would have to be a little different to cross over the other 20. Nevertheless all are inside spokes.

Hope that helps.

thanks mc rider for the help! I will have to try to find a good picture of one all laced on the inside because 16" wheel that came on my 73k when I bought it has both inner and outer spokes. Therefor it doesn't do me much good as a reference.
