Not charging changed about everything!!!!!!

 Hey all got a 1973 750 K was riding last summer and had a short  in under left sidecover well shut bike off pulled cover and moved wire that was causing the short (was wire for the dyna s I hadnt put back in yet) now fired her back up and rode home then a day or so later realized it wasnt chargeing I replaced all the components in there no change oh one wire a ground was burnt so fixed that and it is working as a ground again  then changed the allternater no change   think there is a certain wire down line burnt off oh I am color blind so its like trial an error  grrrrrr   please help  Craig  up here in Maine  seven fifty four ever

...have you hooked a multimeter to the battery while its running, and reved it up?  Does the voltage change at all from when the motor is off/idling/reving?  I'm just wondering if it is not charge at all, or just just a weak charge.  No charge at all would indicate a catastrophic wiring problem somewhere, as opposed to a weak charge may be a bad/weak stator.

Alternators on these rarely fail, i would say never but somebody will shout at me!, Its almost certainly a wiring fault with possibly a regulator fault and lastly a rectifier fault. If you are colour blind you will need some knowledgeable help
