I just picked up two cans of sea foam at Napa, going to try it out.  Going to add half a can to a full tank and go ride for an hour or so.  I will let you know what the results are.

The results may not be immediate. You notice a difference after a full tank or 2 if your carbs aredirty. If they are clean then you will probably notice a small change right away then.  This stuff also cleans out combustion chambers too, again after a tank or 2.

How will running a rich mix or seafoam affect the engine? I'ved used it, but in the prescribed 1 ounce per gallon of fuel. I see posts here that talk about using half a can per tank and that's around twice the recommended "dose". I figure it'll clean better, but does it affect the engine negatively?
I have read elsewhere and was told by the people at NAPA that, as I stated in my original posting, that the Initial use may be upped to get considerably better, quick results.  After the initial use, yes, about 1 oz per gallon=4 oz.  I have read of another person on this forum who used the entire can initially, and it worked great.

There is an excellent article on fuel and oil additives in the Dec/Jan '06 issue of RoadBike. Pretty much says all are "Snake Oil".
From my very first use of SeaFoam, I saw the highly visible rust in my gas tank vanish.  And, I do continue to use SeaFoam, with about 4 oz per tank of gas, and the rust has not come back.  On cold mornings, as someone else also said, my sweetheart starts instantly with no hesitation of a "too cold" engine.  If SeaFoam is snake oil............... it is excellent snake oil...... ;D ;D

I couldn't find anything in the FAQ's so here goes. I always put a thimble-full of two-stroke oil in a full gas tank

I have a hard time believing that a thimble full of two-stroke oil would do much at all.  BTW, the Car Talk guys seem pretty hot on BG 44K claiming it does a great job on valve trains and fuel systems.

I've had good luck with seafoam also. But for decarboning an engine, try Yamaha Ring Free. It's sold through Yamaha Marine dealers. For some reason Oilhead BMW's (my other bike) really tend to carbon the heads up, to where you can get lots of pinging in hot weather due to hot carbon and/or slightly higher compression. I run a 16oz bottle through it every 6k miles or so. Really cleans it out. I've looked through the spark plug hole at the top of the piston before and after, and there's no comparison. It says on the bottle that you can run this at an ounce or two in every tank, but I just do the recomended "shock treatment" once in a while which is a 16oz bottle per 6 gallons.

Just did 60 km ride after adding the seafoam.  I ended up adding about half the can in the tank.  I can't say that i've noticed any difference, but nonetheless, I am glad I added it.
