wheel question?
« on: June 17, 2010, 09:38:02 AM »
I want to change the wheels on my 79 CB 650. I am not fond of the comstar wheels and would like to change them to some spoke wheels. first off what are the pro's and con's. is it a good idea or just a waste of time? Are there wheels that are direct fit or do I have to do some fab work?
  Thanks!

Swapping wheels can be a very simple process.  As long as the wheels use the same diameter axle, you would likely only need to have a few spacers made to fit the new wheels on correctly.  Most machine shops could do that for you for under $80.

It gets more difficult when you have a significantly different mounting mechanism, or if the brake rotor is in a significantly different location to the hub.  Best bet is to take the two wheels in to a machine shop for their advice.

Hopefully this isn't just a joke.  I noticed you only have 4 posts, and that sounds like a very baited question.
