750 ss not starting
« on: June 18, 2010, 09:29:27 PM »
Hello guys, my bike has sat idle for about 2 months since it crapped out on me . Im in need of some mechanical help as the manual is really no help on this. I think its the ignition switch that gave out . Ive never had a switch go bad on me so this confuses me. The bike was running flawless when it gave me only a few signs of what it could be, on starting i would have to try to turn the key until it work and sometimes it took about 5 tries but it only did this 3 or 4 times before but now  it wont do anything. No lights , signals , nothing . like its not opening the circuit. Any help is appreciated

1 - Unplug and re-plug the switch (While you have it unplugged, check for corroded connectors and clean if needed)

2 - Remove the switch and check it out. Some of these old switches can be taken apart. I think the F1's can, but I'm not positive on that. Could be a corroded connection inside the switch itself.

Start with the basics. (I've done it many times)
Battery charged?
Have gas? Fuel is on?
Main fuse OK?
