Hello from SW Pennsylvania
« on: June 21, 2010, 10:47:38 AM »
My name is Ken Potter, I live near Clarksville, PA which is about 50 miles south of Pittsburgh, PA. Started riding in 1957, sometimes it does not seem like that long ago. Started with a 125cc James then a real bike, a 1937 Indian Chief that had no fenders and no generator. Pushed that bike more than I rode it!

Next was a 1959 Triumph Bonneville. Got a 1963 500 Triumph for off road riding, and then went to a AAMRR road race in Vineland New Jersey with a friend. I was working part time in the mornings at the Triumph Shop in Pittsburgh and when I got back from the races, I traded the 500 woods bike for a 500 Triumph street bike, and that started the road racing fun, with AAMRR. Then started Trials riding, got a Montessa Cota 250, more fun.

Then,in 1972 I got a 1972 Norton Production Racer, and back to road racing. What a bike, you could race it and then ride it on the road. Raced that bike at Mossport CA, Nelson Ledges OH, VIR VA.

Jumping forward, 97 Honda CBR900RR, 04 Triumph Thruxton now a CB750K8 Cafe.  When I bought the CBR900RR there was new Black Bird CBR1100XX in the showroom. It is will be the next acquisition before I get too old to ride!

;D Welcome Ken. Sounds like you've had and still have some nice bikes. When I'm too old to ride (90?). I'll park one in the living room for decoration.

Welcome Ken. Nice looking bike. As long as you can throw a leg over the seat you are young enough to ride. ;D

Welcome Ken,

I met another member in Clarksville a few years ago. He came up from Morgantown. Here is a photo from Ten Mile County Park.

I'm just about 35 miles north of you.
You have a nice looking ride. Love those black pipes.

Thanks to everyone for the welcome. This is a really great forum, with loads of pictures, information,
and learning something new.

As to the age issue, it used to be "when will I be old enough to do that" but now it seems to be
"I wonder when I'll be too old to do that".

I still have a few things to finish up, rearset mounting brackets, front turn signals, and making the rear turn signals
work with the brake light. When the weather finally turns this Fall. I have a CBR954RR front end, and a 600
Katana rear wheel to install.

Keiths, I'll send you a message, should be able to get together. Riding to Johnstown tomorrow for the Thunder in The Valley
get together.
