Carbs - cb550k4
« on: June 24, 2010, 06:05:33 PM »
Hey guys I just opened up my carbs on my cb550 K4 (78'). I want to give them a good clean, by looking at the pic bellow do you guys see anything out of place or "not right"?

- #2 and #4 have some damaged on the throttle valve
- connecting air tube vents

Should I order a full carb kit (float gasket, emulsion tube, slide needle, float needle, main and slow jet and gaskets)? or would just the float gasket, float needle and misc "O" rings be ok?

I have #90 for main jets... was that normal?

I just ordered all of the o rings and gaskets. I'm putting mine back together right now... Heres a good place to order them, the other places can be prettyyy pricey.

Maybe you can help me out, Where does the large spring on the top shaft connect to?

one end of the spring fits against #3 carb, the other against the idle adjuster (check pictures #1 & 2nd last above)

Can I replace the connecting air tube vents whiout taking out the trotlte rod apart? How hard will it be to adjust, this is my first time taking a carb apart...

so is the verdic gasket/O-ring only? or do I hace to find some trottle valve also?

in a word - no.  to remove the air balance tubes you must take them apart.  note that not all are still available new, so take care.

yes I saw that, could I make a new one using a similar hose in diameter? Like a silicone fish tank air hose or a small gas line?

as long as the material is gas resistant (it's exposed to fuel vapour from float bowl) there should be no problem.  these supply atmospheric air pressure to the float bowls.
