Yeah, 500cc is a bit small for 40 dcoe. They did make a 38 dcoe, but I have never seen one. You might have more luck in Italy than in Arizona.

 The cool factor about Weber's is they are soooo tunable. You can take a set of 40 dcoe's and change the venturies and choke
  them down to 36 mm.  There's 36mm, rare 37mm, and 38mm venturies for the 40mm dcoe's.

I thought CRs were WAY expensive; maybe that's just the 31s?
Good luck finding 38 DCOEs anyway: I could only find them listed as being fitted to Ferrari 365GTC and 400GT as OEM. In those applications, they used 30mm venturis. Blue, 40 DCOEs could be fitted with down to at least 27mm. I'm running 30mm on my 836. I'll butt-out of this thread now....

Brought them overseas yesterday, and at one point going through the security, I thought that I would end up in the back room with a dry rubber glove up my a..
When those carbs was going through the scanner several of the security people freaked out, calling up on their walkies, I was sure that I would be finger raped by the home land security people


But I explained that it was a set of carb's and that they where such a high value for me that i didn't want to put them in my suitcase. Suddenly these two guys got really interested in what kind they where and what I was building.

So in the end it all worked out, and im back in DK with my lovely CR29's


But I surely was scared a few minutes!!!

Great to hear that you made it home with the goods in tact.  I have a beard and sometimes look like a terrorist so I always get the "special" treatment going through security.

This situation is frustrating, as I was just prepared to bite the bullet and buy a set for the 735.

Well Paul if you're "in limbo" you could always bore the 750 carbs until CR's are available. Not that I have experience, but Tom Marquardt claimed he liked that option on his 550/650 race bike before he switched to vintage CR's.

i'm still kicking myself for passing on a $400 set of CR29's a member here offered me a few years ago... i was still building the engine and money was short. still, that's cheap.

Both Keihin and Mikuni shared the same slide manufacturer.  That manufacturer abruptly shut their doors for good last year.  Keihin and Mikuni have been struggling to catch up.

One of the consequences - some of the CR sizes are likely discontinued.  My understanding is the CR37 and possibly the CR39's are gone for good.  Even though the CR29's are being shipped, I have not received any information that the slides are beig made by the new manufacturer.  It's possible they are still assembling from parts in the bin at the moment.

We've had some CR's on order for a few months now - it's just a hurry up and wait situation.

Somewhat off topic, but how close is the "out of the box" Sudco jetting for an 836?

The Mikuni's I've gotten from Sudco in the past have almost universally been far too lean on the idle side and too rich on the mains.

Mike, you've built a few engines similar to mine... you have the magic combo sorted?  I'm 2-3 weeks from kickover, so it'd be nice to get whatever I might need ordered BEFORE I break it in on the dyno.

Hmm,.. I can't give up these CR's unless I get another set. What size Lectrons do you have? I think mine are 34's from back when they had to run restrictors, I would like 36 or even 38's? PM me if you have any other TZ750 parts??
