cb125s not running right
« on: June 24, 2010, 07:19:17 AM »
ok so my cb125s is not running right
i went through the carb
set the float
cleaned the jets
fresh gas
clean petcock
good points
new plug
valves adjusted.
battery has juice

i can run it all day around town fine it just will not idel at a stop
pulls well getting up to speed.
when i put it in 5th it bogs down and then dies.  even if i pull the clutch in its very hard to keep it running.
then it takes a few kicks to get it going again

i would think that its the float hight but i did that.
why only in 5th?

Two thing to check.  Did you adjust the valves when the engine was dead cold?  And could there be water in the gas?

what year is it? is it one where the ignition system requires the battery to run?
i have the '78with that setup. the list of problems with weird issues was growing and increasingly inexplicable. i just replaced the whole system with one from a xl125 so it doesn't require the battery to run anything but the lights. ALL of the weird problems went away, with the exception of it not loving a ton of throttle off the starting line (stalls).  for simple machines these are fickle little bikes.
