Topic: walmart for filters?

They are fram and work just fine. I have used them for years now, at least a decade. I just get the cartridge filter that goes in the housing. It comes with all the o-rings you need to replace, even the big one for the housing and the rings have never leaked. If someone does not like them, I dont care. I will get them cause in this application, I am convinced they work just fine.

I agree. I have just fram filters for over 25 years and have never had a problem with them.

some people swear by fram some at it... I know mitsubishi 2.0L engines (neon, talon, laser, and eclipse) seem to eat them and then die a horrible dry bearing death

I have a couple of Kawasakis that use cartridge filters like the Hondas.  This Fram debate has gone on all over the internet for some time.  I believe the problems with Fram filters are with the construction of the anti-backflow valve, end caps and such in the spin on filters.  Cartridge filters are basically just the filter element.  I have used many brands over the years such as Emgo, HiFlo, Fram, Honda and probably some others.  They are all pretty much the same.

The Wal Mart "Super Tech" filters are made by Champion Labs not Fram.  Been runnin em on some of my vehicles for the past 11 years with no problems.  I put Wix and Purolator Golds on my 4.0 Jeep though.

FYI
Champion Labs spin-ons have had the same quality control issues with bypass valves and anti-drainback valves as Fram has.  They are cheaper because they skip quality control testing and, unfortunately, the valve designs don't inherently mandate that the valves work.

A bypassed filter still circulates oil.  It's just not filtered.  If you do frequent oil changes, a filter isn't absolutely necessary.
With anti drain back valve failures, the engine oil galleries can be empty on initial start-up.  Doesn't kill an engine outright.  Just makes lubing during start up iffy, and/or delays oil getting to the journals for some amount of time.

WIX filters still have both good designs and good quality control.

Purolator doesn't make their own filters, AFAIK.  The just brand one made by another company.  (I think Champion, but I'm not certain. Just going from memory.)

What years of neons? For the most part, the 90s models completely suck. My wife had one and it has gone through 3 or 4 head gaskets. Eaten numerous headlight bulbs. Windows sealed like crap. Among other issues. Dodge would have to pay me to own a neon!

from inception until 2000 and something... you know why they call it a neon?   cause no matter how you get in it you bang your neon something

I just bought a WIX oil filter at O'Reillys for my 76 cb 550 they could not tell me what one I needed, but after I looked it up on my phone they had it
