Hello every bodies! I purchased a 1974 Honda CB550 K for USD $500. It runs like a champ but I found it is using oil. I rode it about 350 miles and used 16oz 10w40 Honda brand (hey I get it cheap) oil. I noticed some heavy black build up inside the pipes (some crazy loud 2n1 turn out drag pipes not for sure may be M.A.C. or not). I don't see any leaks any where. Some oil in the middle of the jugs but not much at all and no oil stains on the concrete it is parked on. Time for a overhaul? Is there a over haul kit? If no what and where do I need to go to buy the parts to get the deed done? I have a neighbor that use to fix old 2 stroke race bikes. He said he would do the labor for reasonable. I am on SSI so I am thinking this is cheaper and maybe safer then my local dealerships. I just need to get the parts. I love my bike that I am willing to sell my 1982 Yamaha XJ650J Maxim to fix the CB550. The bike had 16k original miles I put a little over 2k on it (only had it a month). I also changed sprockets and chain, new rear tire and the front was new when I got it, side cover right side (battery side). It needs the fork covers on top, the center stand is missing but that is about it. Stock seat needs fixed or recovered it has a split length wise edge of the "tufts" or pleats. The tank and one side panel had been spray painted black as well as the exhaust ends but the original chrome headers are still intact. I don't know how much they sell for but I rather fix this baby. I swear she has more umph then the XJ650J. Can you all help guide me to where I need to get my parts? Thank you
