Topic: How do you park?? Nose in, or out?

When you park in angle parking, do you park;
Front wheel to curb, or Rear wheel to curb?


 If you feel like it, explain a bit...

We don't have much 'angled' parking around here, but where we  do, I park it head-in, but toward the back of the space so someone is less likely to think the space is empty. Getting out is is just a matter of back pedaling, then your facing in the right direction as you would be in a car. Besides, for whatever reason, I'd rather the bike take a bump from the rear than the front. Angled parking spots are pretty dangerous in terms of exiting which is why they seem to have been phased-out here.

Ho, I'm assuming an on-street parking situation and not a lot of some sort.

Same page as sixx. I park for the direction. I wont park with the front facing down a slope. It might be paranoia but last thing I want is the stand somehow folding and dropping the bike on its side.

I usually park, rear to curb. A lot of our parking here is pointing downhill, so it can be real tough to get out. I often though, park quite a ways from curb, on right, so someone doesnt start to turn in..

 Sorta comical watching some of the newbies charge right in.. all the way to the curb..

It's just as easy to back out as it is to back in, so it's usually nose in for me if there is no slope, then I face up hill. I'm paranoid about finding my bike knocked over in the parking lot too, so I always leave the bike out far enough that it can be seen by cager's looking to grab a parking spot. I learned from others not to pull all the way in to a space. I think it was 1978, I came out of a grocery store and saw a guy trying to pick up his KZ400 after someone knocked it over, I helped him pick it up of course, and got on my LTD400, and road home, then a few years later, I helped someone else pick up another KZ400 for the same reason. Sometime after that I saw a Yamaha on it's side but left it alone since no one was around, and I was in my car, (didn't want anybody to think I did it). All three of those bikes where parked all the way into the spot.

I go nose in, b/c I'm too lazy while parking to worry about my getaway. But each time I swear I'll part nose out next time.

I roll in so I can nose out.  Not backing in, if that makes sense.  If I can't roll in to nose out, I will back peddle so rear tire comes close to curb or I just park sideways across the whole thing at the entrance.  I try not to have to move my 800 lb'der if I can get away with it.

We don't have reverse on our bikes so while the engine is still running, I, like the others, try to park so that the exit from the spot will involve only forward power.

Nose out at the open end of the parking space, because the front of my bike is larger and more visible compared to the rear. When parking at the curb I'm always rear tire in.  Quick getaway or not I've probably just gotten my gear on and who needs to muscle a bike around on a hot day?

I'll take a tight 180 turn so I can easily back the bike into a space then pull forward to center it in the space.

I been thinking, on totally flat ground, I think I do go nose in while angle parking.
 I was wondering though, when there is angle parking, there is usually wedges left over at the end of the block that are bike size. Do you use them, and is that allowed where you live?

 Also we have (at least one) bike only spots.. with signage. Its pretty cool when getting on your bike and a car is waiting to pull in, to point at the sign on the pole!
