CB650 turn signals
« on: February 10, 2006, 11:15:21 PM »
Hey all,

I have a fairly easy question.  The PO of my motorcycle put aftermarket turn signals on and ran the wires but did not hook them up.  I am currently in the process of wiring the signals up and i as wondering if the key is in ON, do the turn signals light up like the parking lights on a car.  Or are they dead until the turn signals are activated?  Thanks

The entire bike is dead until you turn the key on.

There are no running lighs w/ the turn signals in the rear, and mine doesnt have them in the front either, just the turn.

the fronts double as running lights.

I'm in the process of replacing mine as well and from what I've seen theres usually a third wire to make them function as running lights.  They should at least blink when the signal is turned on though.

I'm thinking about taking a look into making the running lights a seperate light fixture then the turn signals.

You don't want running lights in the rear .You want them up front. If the lights mount the same, switch the fronts to the rear, IE... 3 wire  lights in front, 2 wire in rear. Wires should be 1. Ground , 2.Hot with key on (Running light), and 3. Hot with signal on (Turn light). Check the wires coming out of the bike with a test light to make sure they are wired right.

I have a set of stock 79 signals if you want.  Got them in a basket case.
