jumping out of first
« on: April 26, 2005, 06:04:48 PM »
Hi,

I am new to the forums.  I have a problem with my 78 750.  when I put it in first as soon as I let out onthe clutch it jumps out of first.  I can take off in second and it shifts throught he rest of the gears fine.  Any ideas on where to start to solve the problem?
I just got the bike and it had been ib storage for about three years.

Thanks for any help you can give,

Craig

Well I would guess you did an oil change. It could be possible that first gear actuation is a bit sticky and so not shifting all the way in. Otherwise it could be clutch adjustment but I dont think so. The other possibility are the dogs and forks (I think they are called) in the transmission. they could be out of adjustment.
