SOHC CB restoration experts in VA/MD/NC?
« on: June 30, 2010, 07:11:30 pm »
Anyone know of a solid Honda SOHC CB restoration shop in the VA/MD/NC region?  I'm in the process of relocating and dont have the luxury of my garage to do the work myself.

thanks!

I've lived inside the Beltway all my life, and there ain't no shop like that here.

yeah, I've noticed that...  The District is especially non bike friendly I've found.  scooter shops abound however which is just a sign of the times.

But there's never been any resto shops here.  Where you at?  And what is the current condition of the bike?

They're right down the road from me in Richmond, Va. They always have 'drool-worthy' vintage bikes inside and sitting outside.

I'm in DC.  I stumbled across an incredible condition CB500F with 6K original miles.  The bike is a runner but needs some updates to ignition, clutch creep (adjustment and/or new clutch plates), carb worked over (running lean), brakes sorted, greasing the fittings, etc.

I'm wanting to keep it a runner and not turn it into a museum piece but am looking for a shop to assist me with some mechanical servicing because I dont have access to my table and tools in NC.  (I am in the middle of relocating)  I'm not looking for a full on restoration as the bike is in amazing cosmetic shape but a mechanical sorting.

Very nice looking bike.... Definitely doesn't need much cosmetic work.

I just spoke to Tim at Classic Honda Restoration... They charge $75/hr and will be happy to assist me with the servicing.  He was very helpful over the phone and spent time answering my questions.  I have a feeling any shop I go to for service on my CB500 is going to be very costly...
