Mac Motorcycles. Good blokes- and lady!
« on: July 02, 2010, 12:51:55 AM »
Just because I've said nice things about them, and gave my 2 cents about what engine(s) I think they should consider (hey, they asked!) to replace the defunct Buell, Miss Tracey Price mailed me a tee shirt and few signed drink coasters!

Character goes a long way; they have a fan in me and, if possible, a customer in waiting.

So have they found a motor to use in their bikes?  They do great work.  I'd love to see more of their stuff, once they figure things out.....

the royal enfield 500 with efi makes the same torque and five less hp than the buell. can be bumped up i would imagine with the parts available.

it's air cooled, a thumper, looks classic, and brit... sort of.

I sto[[ed short of recommending the RE lump for some reason...
Maybe it was that they seemed to be insisting it have a carburetor...?
I also can't remember why they didn't want to consider a Japanese single.
Really, thought, the RE seems the obvious choice.  Think they'll go for it?   I suppose a lot of that depends on RE, too.

So am I missing something?  They sent you a plain black T-shirt?  I have a dark computer screen;  does it say anything but it's artsie-fartsie black on black?
Dude- your 8 layers are showing!

;D yeah the tee has a stylized silhouette of their bike running vertically up the right as you view it.

artsy fartsy black on black.

their reply to my re suggestion on fb:

"We like your train on thought Bill, we will see what we can do!"

dunno if they were just being polite but it seems like a good idea to me. for re it provides more revenue and a performance image w/o the expense of engineering a brand diluting model.

for mac it's at least kinda british, has heritage similar to hd, and re has some presence in the 'states which is good good for service and repairs.

if a carburetor is an issue they may wanna get over that soon; it's only a matter of time before fi is the norm.

below: the best i could do about the image.
