Topic: turn signal tab

anyone know if there's a way to take the black plastic tab off a turn signal switch without breaking it? i have a good assembly that's missing a tab - and an old ragged out one with a tab, if i can get it off. not even sure that's what you call this piece - i mean the part that your thumb comes in contact with when you operate the switch.

I think the tab comes with the metal shaft it's attached to.  You'll need to remove the whole piece from the inside.
