Hello I bought a 1977 CB750, it doesn't want to idle. I'm always adjusting the idle screw to keep it from dieing and idling below 3000rpm. Any ideas what could be causing this? Also when I do get to idle around 1500rpm but as soon as you crank it, the idle sticks at 3000rpms.
There's a whole raft of possibilites. Do a search on "fast idle" and such.
First thing I'd do is relax the adjuster on the cable at the twist grip to an exaggerated amount of twist grip free play. See how that does. Tighten back up to 1/8 turn of free play.
What have you done so far?
Along with my suggestion, you could split the switch housing and get some lube into the cable with the adjuster. Squirt can of motor oil is fine.
