X2!!  also, VERY nice work!  looks a lot better than i thought!

The oil line supplies came from a little mom & pop hardware store in Burbank, CA.  $9/ft for braided oil line...and the fitting were cheap too.  I had to strip the blue/red anodizing...but whatever.

This little store is pretty amazing.  Its a "find anything you need" spot for the mad scientist.

That's the diode for the clutch switch if I remember correctly.

My wiring harness is F1 but the diagram, pic'd below, is K1.  For the most part the systems are the same...but this diode is not on the diagram.  It is one of the few differences I've been able to find.

the teal/red, according to the diagram below, is oil switch.  It leads out to the oil light on the console...fine.

green/red is the neutral switch.  And it leads out to the neutral light on the console.  BUT ALSO it leads back to the solenoid. I think, here, it is a safety feature and kills the solenoid.  If the bike isn't in neutral, you can't use the electric start???

both are going into the diode.  what does it do?

You are absolutely correct, good sir.  I just reviewed the F1 diagram...and found the diode combines "signals" from clutch and neutral switches to kill the solenoid of not in neutral AND clutch is engaged.

Regardless....DELETED.  using custom control and no clutch switch in the clutch lever.   :-\

anyone ever powder coat a gas tank???

Just curious...thinking of matching the powder coat on the swing arm.  Do the headlight, gas tank, oil tank and swing arm...all in the same color powder coat...

OR NOT.

take your powdercoated parts to a paint shop and have them mix you up some paint to match the powder.  shouldn't be too hard.  you can use one of those preval sprayers.  they do a great job and then some spraymax clear on top!!

i've heard of powdercoated tanks before, but never seen on in person.  talk to your powdercoater first.  just remember though, any dings or dents will show through.  you'll have to fix them and fill things in with lead or brazing wire first.  hope this helps!

oh ya, what are you going to go off of for wiring?  custom?  just replace it?

following an F1 wiring diagram...using wires from existing wiring harness so the colors stay accurate..deleting wires for components I'm deleting...removing all old connectors...replacing with new connectors...tail mounted components.

Well its taken me a couple hours studying the F1 wiring harness...but i've got a good handle on it.

What does the "Hondaman box" consist of?

The R/R combo has the same wiring as the originally separate units....they are just in the same casing.  But use the same 8 wires.

Had a WIRED WEEKEND!!  My brother came into town and we spent the weekend hold up in the garage wiring my bike.  It turned out pretty badass!!  Here's a recap...

I studied the existing wiring harness before beginning.


And the tail mount plans begin...  Did some light fabbing to the original mounting bracket to fit on the tail section.


New R/R unit and Solenoid...but kept the original fuse box just cuz...mounted up perfectly.


3am...too buzzed to solder.


Drilled a 1.5" hole w/ rubber grommet to run wires out of the rear section.




At little birdie decided to land on the floor of the garage at our feet...hung out for a while and then disappeared.


The tail section all finished...moving foward...


Under the tank...forgot to get a pic of it all harnessed up...



Getting everything into the headlight bucket.


Fitting the tail section over the electrical.



Fitting the headlight.



Haven't mounted the lights yet...but tested the system and no problems.  Can't test charging system till I get it running.



Fuel lines and exhaust...then I'll start it up!!

The socket fits down into the hole for #3...but cant reach the socket with the ratchet to get it out.  In #2, the socket won't even fit down in the hole.

Honda does it again...complete illogical design.  How have you guys solved this?

I saw a guy bore out the inside of the fins around the spark plug holes to make them bigger. I personally use a ratchet with a breakover joint in it.

Use a 3/8 socket....not 1/2. I have a 3/8, 6pt., 18mm deep Craftsman. Locking 3 in. extension. Loosen the plug, remove socket & extension.......take the plug the rest of the way out with a length of 3/8 in. fuel hose. Use fuel hose to reinstall plug. Turn till hose starts slipping on plug... turn the rest of the way in with socket & extension.......Easy cheesy!!! ;D ;D

Thanks, mrbreeze!!  When I first tried with the 1/2 drive and it didn't work..I almost tried the 3/8 drive.  I didn't cuz I compare the two 18mm sockets and they were almost the same OD.  So I figure the 3/8 wouldn't work either.

But the 3/8 is just enough smaller than the 1/2 to drop in there. 

Chalk a big "DUH" up for me...
