650 with strange swingarm
« on: July 06, 2010, 03:04:41 AM »
I was at a friends house this weekend, and spotted a 650 in a corner of the shed with a bit of a strange swingarm. He's been storing the bike for a friend who failed to get her licence in the past few years and moved to Denmark. He wants the bike gone this summer. I don't really like 650's myself, but it's not a bad bike for commuting...and I like the swingarm. Will a 650 swingarm fit my 550 ?
What do you guys think, make her a low offer?

That's definitely not a stock swingarm.

Looks awesome. It's amazing how sometimes changing the angle of the shot totally changes the look of the bike. In the first two shots, it looks all grimy and dusty but the third makes it look awesome. It even looks like it's a different color.  ;D

It's hard to tell, but that swingarm looks pretty sweet. I'm not sure if it will mount up to a 550, but if you do end up buying it and it won't, I'd be interested in buying it from you, I also have an extra 650 swing arm I could send in exhange as well.

That is a very special swingarm, it won't fit your 550 though.
The rear shocks look like they have been repositioned too for some reason? or maybe the different swingarm moved them backwards at the bottom.
It could be that they wanted to lower the bike for a short rider! :)
I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!

It won't fit at the swingarm pivot, or the wheel wont fit? With some fabricating, can it be made to fit? I have some spare longer Koni shocks too, so that wouldn't be the problem.

650's are cheap here, $800 will get you a very nice bike so this one's probably not worth much more than $500 to most people.
