Hey, what RPM should i be running at doing 80?
76 CB 550 SS.

just curiouse, cuz i met a guy with a 75 550k, who said he's running at like 5 grand doing 80... seems low to me.

In this thread, TT has provided a copy of the roadtest indicatting 80 mph on a 550 is something north of 6000 rpm, like 6250. We don't know if its a 75 550, but there weren't that much differences I think, in the 550s.

Let us not forget how old our instruments are and your buddies is likely off the mark. Even a low mileage instrument will suffer from age, condensation cycles, and general corrosion.

Yes seems low.  My 650 that is overgeared runs 70 mph @ 5000 rpm.
