I'm tryin to do my own custom exhaust on my 82 cb 650 nighthawk. i was wondering if i got a hold of the exhaust system from an 85 cb 650 would it match up to the exhaust mounts on the bike

Sorry, can't say for certain, but I doubt they're interchangeable.  They're two different engines, the '82 650 is a SOHC, and the '85 is a DOHC.  Even if the diameter is the same, the spacing and angle of the exhaust ports could easily be different.
