The two incidents occurred over a riding career that started in 1968 so it is not a daily occurrence. Most of that time has been positive. What I am finding is HD riders who rode in their younger days and came back now that the kids are grown. Many started riding on Japanese bikes, so they will come over and talk. Many are sorry they sold them.

Then you have people like that limp dick Dentist who could only be parked among Harleys.

I needed some point grease and you could still get it at Harley shops. I was working in Woodside Queens NY and there is a big HD Dealer there. The guys there are very hardcore bikers. Some of the shop guys were hanging around the parts counter and when i asked for the grease they said, man you must have a blah, blah, blah, and I said no a 78 Honda.
They asked me where I got it fixed, I said my house.

They got friendlier and we joked some. They respected someone who could fix what they rode, and rode it. That is the difference between real riders and broke dick yuppies.

Two bad incidents in 30+ years is not much.

But we were boys, and boys will be boys, and so they will. To us, everything was dangerous, but what of that? Had we not been made to live forever?

I had a "client" in my "establishment" for a good 10 years and got to know him quite well, did a lot of work to get him the programmes etc he needed and even wrote up reports to parole board to assist in his final release.
He was a patched bikie before he came to jail and was actually in there for killing a rival gang prez.
I ran into him a few times after he got out and he would tell me of his job and how well he was doing, where his life was going etc....all good positive stuff.
One day while at a gas station filling my old Police 650 he rolls in on a new Harley, he recognised me as I walked out from paying but as soon as he saw my ride he nearly spat on the ground.
Now when I see him he ignores me...his loss...guess you can only do so much for some people, obviously I didn't manage to change his basic attitude while he was my guest. ;D
I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!

Talk to his Parole oficer and have him violated, that should give him at least two years in the joint. He probably broke the Public Health Law spitting on the street.  ;D ;D ;D

The town I live in is full of two types of bikes: Harleys and Goldwings.

I rolled into a local bike garage with my CB450 cafe to get it inspected, lotsa old bikers around. The first comment I got was "What the hell is that?" After that, I had a little crowd of old guys talking about it. Everybody was cool.

The only real biker #$%*s I've run into are RUBs and squids.

i always thought those guys were pissed about having all that money tied up into a bike with no performance. i usually point down to the ground not waving just pointing at the parts they are leaving behind :P

BobbyR, Marcus is alive and well. Sundays are for bikes and Wednesday nights are for cars. They get some relaly nice cars there! Marcus also has their Super Sundays still which are well attended. They moved these out of Marcus for a while but the guys preferred Marcus.
For riding I used to go over to Bear Mountain or just up along Rt 22 in Dutchess county.
Beautiful country up that a way! There are a lot more cars there now though than there were 30 years ago!

Happy riding!
I want to die like my grandfather did...in his sleep and not screaming like the passengers in his car!

Yeah those are two great rides. You can lose the traffic if you know the roads. Orange County is still pretty open. I have to check out Marcus again.
