CB550 question
« on: July 06, 2010, 10:00:43 AM »
Hey folks, Im sorry if this sounds dumb, but Im not sure what the smaller tube running off the swing arm is supposed to connect to. I got the 550 already in pieces without an engine and a rusted frame; I refinished the frame and I'm working on the rest of it. Im at the point where I can build up a rolling frame with brakes, but I ran into this issue when I went to re-attache the swing arm. Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!

This is from a 77 cb550F.  Can you point out what tube you are talking about?

I think he's talking about 5. That bolts to the bottom of your rear brake.

5 is the piece I was talking about. Thanks for the fast responses.

I'm rebuilding an FT500 as well, but I tore that down, and then was given the 550 as a gift, so Im kinda trying to feel my way along with this one. All the nuts, bolts, and linkages are in a tin can unmarked, so thats a pleasure to sort through.

Thank you very much, i greatly appreciate it. Im going to hook it all up tomorrow.

I hope you folks will bear with me, Im sure I will be asking more questions about this bike. Like I said, I got it for free as a gift and it was already torn down in pieces and all the nuts and bolts were in a tin can. So theres going to be alot of guesstimations and such.
