Thank you Terry, I respect a man in uniform, too. So anyway, I watched the show on cable a while back, about the design and building of the VRod. The more they explained how they came up with the "new ideas" for this "revolutionary" new bike, the more it seemed like a copy of the VMax. Yes, two fewer pistons, but water cooled, gas tank under the seat, overhead cams, 60 degree engine (I know the VMax is 90, but Harley had some reason for spreading the angle, possibly race engine influenced). The prototype just plain resembled a chopped up VMax. The whole show was humorous because Harley tries to stick to traditional American style and cycle design (which is great!) , but to build a competitive bike, they had to take engineering cues from the other foreign bike builders. They couldn't build a muscle bike using a pushrod air cooled 45 degree v twin. As much trash talk I hear from Harley's side of the fence about copying, they have no right to build that VRod and proclaim they invented this superbike idea. Now to anyone else who wants to debate me on my response, please remember that's it's my humble opinion and you're not going to sway me. It's a neat bike. All Harleys are. In fact, I wish I had two of them so I could take a #$%* on one and cover it up with the other!
