Wow, that's pretty neat!  I remember a few guys in the 70's running around on the street with wheelie bars.  It looked silly out of place, but it was still kinda cool.
My dog loves me for the person I try to be.  Either that or he's hungry.

I like Harley's but they turned their back on the real rider's too long agow but the problem is there are so manny bikes and not so manny biker's now day's in 5 or 10 year's there will be alot of cheap Harley's. Annyone that really rides one would have to have grease under their nail's and atleast some brain's in their head's just like us. I don't like the V Rod though ugly looking bike that would be too hard to work on and cost's way too mutch.

I watched that show and I liked it.  I got a kick out of Leno describing the feeling he got from riding his turbine bike.  I was interested in that chap who designed and built his own world beater racing bike too.

I thought the writers were really reaching when they had to justify a third place finish for the CB 750 by calling it boring.  I don't own a 750, and I've never ridden one, but there's something fundamentally faulty about the kind of twisted logic that can berate a motorcycle for being too good.  It was pedestrian scripting and it insulted my intelligence ......

I'm not saying it should have been first on the list, just that if they would have thought a bit harder about it, they could have come up with better reasons to make it third.

My humble opinion only ......

With 145 HP the original Vmax shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence with Harley Davidson.  They quit running the Vmax for a few years, then it was brought back in the 90's with considerably less power.

HD's have torque for days, but not much of anything above 7K RPM.  I've only been into 750's for about a year, and after about 3 months finally think I have my chop tuned to perfection.  My sense is I could take most stock HD's with it in the 1/8 or 1/4 mile (is there anything else???), but in the interest of putting my foot in my mouth I guess I should wait til I actually go toe to toe with one before passing judgement.  I rode an 883 sporty for a few years, and my 750 "feels" faster, but one never knows.  I'm going to the Myrtle ralley in May and have purchased a stratigically placed vacation home on a nice back street off the main drag.  My cousin has a 98 fat boy that I'm sure after much trash talking we'll take it to the street.  I think he said he wanted to race for titles.   :o  I have about 3 grand in mine, while he has 20G's in his.  I think in financial circles that is called return on investment.   ;D

I did a friendly race against a guy and his 883 Sportster.  I have a 400F.  His is dead stock with 40 horsepower.  I have a thundering 38 horsepower.

His torque beat me for the first 50 feet, then it was all over.  Less weight and more RPM took it.  If the road was curvy, forget it, I would have REALLY killed him.

He was shocked.  He ribbed me before for having a " jap moped", but after that little experience he was humbled.  He asked how I did it.  I explained that with less than half the displacement, I had nearly equal the power and weighed about 250 pounds less*.  Power:Weight ratio.

He originally wanted to go for pinks, but I said, "nah, lets just have one for fun, THEN we'll go for pinks."  Afterwards, I asked him if he still wanted to race the Jap Moped for pinks.  He respectfully declined.

*: Someone told me that new sportsters (his is an '05) weigh like 640 pounds!!!!   :o :o  So you got 400F power in a package weighing over 100 pounds MORE than a 750.

He's a good guy, just kept giving me a hard time about my "Fonzie Bike" or my "Jap Moped" until I finally called him on it.  He actually respects it now, and while he's not a Harley Snob, he does like them best.

Most Harley riders in my area are actually positive towards anyone riding a bike as they think "the more people on two wheels, the better".  The real jagoffs are the crotchrocket kiddies.  I've met good and bad examples from both camps, but most of the riders in my immediate area are cool, regardless of ride.

terry, whats a ducati? Oh a bike most of us will never see unless we live in a huge population center? OK gotcha. You will never see a ducati in North Dakota. So by going with my geographical area, v-twins suck!

Eldy, there are 171 Ducati dealerships in the USA, according to Google, including at least one in North Dakota. If you haven't seen one, they're those sexy but fragile Italian bikes that have been whooping Jap fours for 30 years or so that I can remember, since Paul Smart beat a field of Jap bikes in 1972 at Imola .

Ducati's are the reason that Honda and Suzuki built their own 1 litre V Twins in an attempt to beat Ducati in the world superbikes series, that Ducati has dominated for as long as I can remember. (Do they have Television sets in North Dakota?) Just like Harleys are the reason that all the Jap bike manufacturers have been trying (and failing) to build a cruiser with any hint of "Charisma" for the last 25+ years.

Of course the new Jap V Twin Sports bikes are very nice indeed, and I'm guessing that you haven't ridden one mate, (I think you can buy them in North Dakota too) if you did, I think your love affair with that fugly K8 boat-anchor would finally be over, ha ha! Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

First off, sporty's don't wiegh 640 lbs. They are about the same as my wifes Virago. Around 500.

As for the Ducs, I have an M900. It is almost better than sex. Simple like the 750, air cooled, but great power.

As for spanking sporty's with a 400f. I did that a couple times myself back in the 80s. It was a great little bike. Too bad I had to get rid of it in a crappy divorce.................#$%*.

'05 Base Sportsters: 553 pounds dry.  Add oil and gas and it approaches 600 pounds.

The guy said the weight went up around '04 or '05 because Harley added frame bracing because they rubber-mounted the engine and it was no longer a stressed member or some such nonsense.  I wasn't really paying attention.

Hey Eldy, is it legal to marry your sister in North Dakota? Just wondering of course, no offence meant, it'd just explain a few things? Cheers, Terry. ;D

So how much does the average sporty wife in the US weigh? I reckon mine's only around the 120 pound mark, but I don't want to ask her in case I'm out by a pound or two? You must have some big girls over there mate? Cheers, Terry. ;D

G'Day Eldy, where have you been mate? I was starting to worry about you, ha ha! Hey whereabouts is North Dakota anyway? I asked a couple of other guys here and from their replies, the general concensus was that if you wanted to give America an enema, you'd insert the tube in North Dakota? What does that mean?  ;D

We share a border with them canuks! Basically go to the middle of texas and go straight up on a map. As for the enema, you go to texas or califonia to do that. It was tried with louisiana and did not quite work! I think those guys are just jealous kinda like NZ is jealous!
