gas tank
« on: July 04, 2010, 06:26:42 AM »
My '72 350 twin has, I think, water in the fuel. There is a white gunge all over the float bowl and carb parts. I even noticed some liquid beading on the floats. I think I used a gas container that was contaminated with water to refill the tank after rebuilding the carbs. My question is: How do I clean this up? I've cleaned the carbs again and removed the white stuff. What about the tank? Is there anything to do to get rid of the water? Thanks.

Undo the fuel lines and drain a cup or so..........the water will be the first to flow.........also drain the petcock and the bowls..........modern fuel has 10% ethanol which degrades to a small amount of water content if you let it sit in a tank or can for a few months.
