Question regarding CB 750K8 stock exhaust pipes.
« on: December 21, 2013, 04:44:22 AM »
I've been looking for a set of stock exhausts for my K8, found a used pair on Ebay, but the seller says that the baffles are shot. I've never had stock pipes on my K8, so I have no idea if the baffles are removable or replaceable. Can they be removed and replaced? I'm sure finding a set of baffles will be tough, but there's no sense in looking if they are not replaceable.

Thanks

They are not replaceable and it means that the mufflers are shot inside--that is the way they usually go--rusted from the inside. A few years ago, a N.O.S. set (long discontinued) would cost you as much as the bike sold for new back in 78. While Honda reproduced the previous exhausts, they never did this for the K7/K8 models. However, a few years ago, O.E.M. mufflers were produced and are nor readily available. Although they are no Honda parts, they are identical bolt-on replacements from the very same factory. You still looking at $ 800-- which would have been considered a real bargain ten years ago. They are top quality too.

Hey Dog.....I have a very good set that I bought a couple years ago for my K7 and decided to go with a vintage RC Engineering pipe instead.

I have em in the rafters in my Batcave but could send you some pics when I get down there.

Thanks for the info. I was afraid of that, I thought it might be worth a shot. I've seen the re-pops on Ebay for $1,000.00. Where are the $800.00 versions?
