Ignition switch
« on: March 19, 2006, 05:32:01 PM »
Looks like I'll have to change the ignition switch, 1977 550. Any bad experiences with aftermarket? I see a new one on on E-bay probably Emgo.

Thanks

Hey, Emgo, you go one year, maybe two. Then need to replace again.

Good luck.

I'm getting ready to ditch the Emgo switch in my 750. It doesn't want to let go of the key anymore!

You can go to any auto parts store and get an ign. switch from a late model GM car/truck/etc..
Whats nice about these , is that they allow you to use the key to start the bike, just like car.
In a chopper / bobber build, it helps out(one less button to clutter up the bike...)  ;D

Hey, I'm glad to hear about those switches. Eventually, I'll be needing a few myself. A little
while back, I got a used factory switch for my CL450K6 and I'll probably try to pick one up on ebay
every now & then. If you don't try ProTeal's idea, you might consider trying ebay (if you haven't
already). I hate to hear when someone has gotten a raw deal, poor service or what ever but,
putting it on the forum helps others to stay away from the culprits. It's a shame that we have to
be so suspicious of others. Later on, Bill
